Pacific Prime CXA prides ourselves in our ability to develop close, mutually-trusting relationships with insurers, and we strive to remain at the forefront of both health insurance and employee benefit trends. It is on this note that we\u2019re extremely proud to say that we, in conjunction with AIA, recently hosted an HR event for business leaders and industry professionals in Singapore.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tilted \u2018Winning the World Class Talent War\u2019, the event took place on the 28th of September, 2022 at The Westin Grand Hotel Singapore. It brought together various thought leaders and experts to shed light on the post-pandemic global shortage of talent and outline a fool-proof strategy for companies to stay ahead of the curve – all while providing a space for networking and mingling.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this <\/span>Pacific Prime Singapore<\/span><\/a> article, we\u2019ll reflect on the event and share some of our learnings.<\/span><\/p>\n

First and foremost, we\u2019d like to extend a big thank you to our esteemed speakers – <\/span>Jasmine Koh <\/span><\/a>from Singapore\u2019s Ministry of Manpower (MOM), <\/span>Dr. Fermin Diez<\/span><\/a> from the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), <\/span>Neil Raymond<\/span><\/a> from Pacific Prime, <\/span>Alvin Fu<\/span><\/a> from AIA, <\/span>Aakash Mehta<\/span><\/a> from Mastercard, and, last but not least, <\/span>Olivier Bastin<\/span><\/a> from AIA – without which this event wouldn\u2019t have been possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2026for offering a multi-dimensional perspective to the talent war facing companies\u2026<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cWith the \u2018Great Resignation\u2019 and shrinking of the global talent pool, I believe it\u2019s vital for companies to arm themselves with knowledge on the latest HR and recruitment trends. From the regulatory landscape in Singapore to flex benefits and data driven insights, our event offered a multi-dimensional perspective on the talent war facing companies, and I\u2019m proud to say that it was both informative and enlightening.\u201d- Neil Raymond, Founder and CEO, Pacific Prime\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The event started off with an overview of Singapore\u2019s regulatory landscape by Jasmine Koh, which included key insight into the MOM\u2019s enhancements to the city-state\u2019s work pass framework to better attract global talent. She emphasized that companies that complement their strong Singaporean core with high-quality and diverse foreign workforce will gain a competitive edge in the long run, and that Singapore remains committed to being open.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Fermin Diez touched upon the importance of equal pay in the context of full-time, part-time, and gig\/contract employment, and how companies must be consistent with their payments. He highlighted that paying for performance isn\u2019t the only model and that other approaches (i.e. paying for skills, development, and retention) can be considered. Flex Pay was also brought up as the future of payment, whereby each employee chooses how they prefer to be paid.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another eye-opening talk was the one on Flex Benefits by Neil Raymond. He explained how there\u2019s high demand for customized benefits, which is the driving force for flex benefits – something that\u2019s becoming even more flexible. He also provided tips for employers, stating that a successful flex program comes with education and is heavily leveraged on a digitized platform, and looked at how flex promotes the ideology of \u2018prevention is better than cure\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

Olivier Bastin presented some data-driven insights to win the war for talent. For some back and forth regarding how to attract and retain talent, there was also a panel discussion, with Alvin Fu, Aakash Mehta, and Dr. Fermin Diez as contributors, and <\/span>Laura Anne Yeo<\/span><\/a> as the moderator. Finally, the floor was open to a short questions & answers session, before closing remarks were given and the event concluded.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
